Tod Sweeney M.D.

Dr. Tod Sweeney is a native of Colorado and grew up in Lakewood. An athlete himself, he played baseball collegiately at the University of Pennsylvania. After graduating from medical school at the University of Vermont, he completed a Family Medicine residency at Maine Medical Center. Continuing his passion for sports medicine, he completed a Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship at the University of Colorado, and is Board Certified in both Sports and Family Medicine.
Currently, Dr. Sweeney cares for all types of athletes and patients. He maintains his active involvement as a team physician with local area high schools, universities and professional sports teams. When not seeing patients he continues to pursue his academic interests of writing and teaching. He has published several articles in the sports medicine field and has presented at national conferences. He helps educate medical students and residents as a clinical instructor with the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and Saint Anthony’s Family Medicine Residency Program. He recently completed his tenure as the Department Chairman at Exempla Lutheran Medical Center and as President for the Rocky Mountain American College of Sports Medicine Regional Chapter (where he now serves as the Regional Chapter Representative). He is a fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine and a member of the American Medical Society of Sports Medicine. He is also a fellow in the American Academy of Family Practice.
Dr. Sweeney and his wife enjoy living in Colorado with their three daughters. They like hiking, biking, skiing, running and traveling together.
